Teenaged Beauty Queen

I was more tomboy than girlie girl, growing up. I liked running around in the woods with the boys; climbing tree's, having cherry fights, racing down hills on our rollerskates. When I became a teenager everything changed. I couldn't go wrestle with the guys anymore, but I didn't really know how to fit in with the girls. So I continued to hang out with the boys more. I was ok being "one of the guys". Because they accepted me, as is, I never really dressed up or played with makeup or gushed over 17 magazines. The rare occasions where I put on a skirt or put makeup on; I was noticed. Because, "whoa, there's something different about Tina, I wanna makeout with her!", it was a small reminder that I indeed had the same parts they were almost always thinking about. But that's all it ever was, a small reminder. Things would go back to the way there were, and my jeans and hoodies were all fine and dandy with me.
Now, at 31, I really wish I had been more of a girl when I was a teenager. I think I really missed out. Experimenting with makeup and jewelry. Trying different clothes and seeing what worked and what didn't. Playing with my hair, colour, style. All the nonsense clothes and bad backup of your teen years are supposed to be preparation for being a grown adult. I can barely apply my own makeup. I have recently conquered the art of using a hair straightener. I walk into most clothing stores and have NO IDEA what clothes are this seasons style versus last seasons versus totally not cool versus grandma gear. I'm not even sure if you can teach this "old dog" new tricks and teach me how to do all the basic girlie things that most girls seem to be born knowing.
So for the most part, I'm ok with my plain jane, jeans and tank top non-style. But everyone once in awhile an occasion pops up where I need to dress up and I just really don't know how to do it (or do it well I should say). I've got a wedding to attend next week and it just happens to also be an event where I am meeting a TON of my hubby's family for the very first time. I've got my dress... and now what?!? Jewelry? Shoes? Purse? Scarf (I think I have it covered, but maybe not)? ACK! So any advice would be appreciated.

So here is the dress I bought. And another shot with the shawl/scarf I got - do they go together? Any advice for shoes, jewelry, hair AHhh can someone just come in my suitcase and dress me! lol (sorry it's a phone pic and terrible lighting)

And here are the 3 'nicest' shoes I own. The ballet flats I was planning on tucking away for once the dancing started. I need to go shopping!!
