Don't Eat The Ham, Tina

I find it so amazing that consuming (or not consuming) something can have drastic effects on my body. I never really paid much attention to this except for cases like; drinking alcohol = outgoing party girl who speaker dances; or forgeting to eat for 18 hours = headache and an irritability akin to waking a hybernating bear 10 minutes after it's fallen asleep.
The first time I really started to notice that food effected me was when I was pregnant. I have always been terrible about eating breakfast - the last time I consistently ate breakfast was probably when I was 8 years old. When I was pregnant I started noticing that if I didn't eat breakfast, halfway on my walk to work I would get extremely dizzy. Black around the edge of my vision, almost fainting in the middle, kind of dizzy. Scary. I started eating breakfast a little more often after that - but still, it's been a battle to teach myself that it's important to eat in the morning.
This summer I made it my mission to drink lots of water. I was feeling FANTASTIC most days and easily downing 80-100oz of water a day. The cool weather set in and my water consumption decreased. Then I stopped drinking ANY water most days for the last 2 months. The last month and a bit I have been feeling so sluggish and tired all the time. Not just physically tired, but mentally un-alert too. Could this be because I'm not giving my body the water it needs to keep it going??
Last night I made a ham for dinner. We don't eat ham often because it's so salty. I generally don't cook with added salt AT ALL. As I was eating it last night I felt my body bloating! What a gross feeling to be aware of as it's happening! My throat is SORE today from taking in so much salt in one sitting. I am puffy today and my pants feel tighter all because of retaining water from eating salty meat! YUCK!
I rejoined my Get Fit Club - an amazing group of woman who support one another in their healthy changes - and made my goal to drink water again. Maybe once I lubracate my muscles and brain it won't be such a chore to get up off the couch and workout. And as for ham... I don't think we'll be eating it much anymore!
