Trying to find a reliable "diet" online can be quite disheartening. There are the pills and the wraps and the detoxes. There are the hormones and the calorie counters and the surgical procedures. There are "easy" methods and "long term" methods. There are special formulas and recipes and packaging targeted towards women or men. There are all the links that take you to another link, that take you to another link, that take you to a page where, for a one time charge of $37.74, they will reveal to you the ancient Mayan secrets to weight loss.
It's all bullshit (please excuse my French).
I am like most other woman, I would LOVE a quick fix. I'd pay anything, eat anything, cover my body in anything, if it guaranteed me that I'd lose weight. I know how sad that sounds, but it's true. As my weight creeps up, as my butt starts to jiggle a little bit more, I find myself more and more desperate.
But somehow I'm not desperate enough to just stop eating the crap and getting said jiggley ass on the treadmill. How does that work?? Then to make things worse I have the "I don't see or feel any improvement today, so I'll punish myself by eating like crap" mentality. Oh, those jeans are feeling a little tight today? Well you're already screwed, might as well go and eat a coffee crisp as fast as you can! Scale not moving? Scale moving up? Feeling sluggish? Didn't make your run today? Didn't make your workout at all this week? An excuse to eat like poop; then beat yourself up about it.
The truth is, the better you eat, the better you feel. Add to that; the more you move your body, the easy it is to keep moving your body and again, the better you feel. Fancy logic, huh? Losing weight has a relatively easy equation - expend more energy than you take in.
So, note to self: STOP IT! Stop making excuses and feeling sorry for yourself and allowing yourself to give up day after disappointing day. STOP telling yourself you can't do it. STOP sabotaging yourself. STOP IT! Suck it up, buttercup. If you want to do something, be something, DO IT! Go all in. And if you mess up, start again tomorrow.
