Why didn't I know this before: Sock bun

I think I should start a blog series on things that I never knew before, that I really should have. First up... the sock bun. HOLY MOLY BATMAN! I have super fine hair... and I'm lazy. So my hair goes up into a messy ponytail/bun most days. When I need to fancify myself, usually I straighten it. Sometimes if I'm feeling particularly brave or the humidity is particularly high, I'll scrunch some mousse into it and let it do it's natural wavy thing. But most days.. I don't even brush my hair. Sad, I know. And then I discovered the sock bun. SMACK! Why didn't I know about this beauty trick before?! I can put my hair up and it actually looks like I have a decent amount of hair (instead of the thinning old lady hair I normally rock). It's genius!

So how, you might ask, can one accomplish this fancy-smancy'ness? Easy!
  1. Cut the toe of a sock off and roll the sock so it forms a donut
  2. Put your hair up into a ponytail
  3. If you have shorter hair, like me, slip the sock-donut down onto your ponytail so it sits on top of your elastic. Now split your ponytail in half and spread it all around the donut. Tuck your hair ends under the donut and secure with another elastic or pins. Doneski.
  4. If you have long thick hair, bitch (kidding kidding), then slip the donut onto your pony with enough hair sticking out to sort of tuck around the donut. Then roll the donut and your hair down, tucking in the pieces as you go. With this method you usually don't need do anything extra to secure your hair because it's tucked and rolled under.
  5. Now highfive yourself and go on with your bad ass self!
In case my instructions were as clear as mud... I found this 'tutorial' using good ol' Google images. Now excuse me, while I go highfive myself! ;)

  1. The sock bun has to be the easiest and cutest hair style EVER. I just discovered it a couple months ago myself. It is my go to for days when I don't shower or when Liam won't stop grabbing my hair. Add a cute bow, barret, clip etc at the bottom of the bun to dress it up.
